Literature Review-Education

I need 4-5 primary source research articles related to “How will implementing a consistent routine affect my students’ behavior?” for this assignment

A primary research article is an article written by the researchers who describe their own study.

Assessment Context: This assessment is used in the M.Ed. Curriculum & Instruction program, the M.Ed. in Administration program, the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership program, the M.Ed. in Career and Technical Education program, and the M.Ed. in Special Education program. The assessment measures the candidate’s understanding and application of research methodologies in education. The minimum passing score for this critical assessment is 88 points.

Note: This course includes this assignment as a critical assessment documenting your learning on the national standards listed below. Please see the course syllabus or further information on the critical assessment policy. It is important to review the materials below and the critical assessment rubric before you begin this assignment.

Part 1: Critical Assessment – Literature Review

Write a 5- to 8-page literature review related to your research question or thesis statement. Your textbook (McMillan, 2012) includes an excellent definition of, and step-by-step instructions for, writing a literature review in chapter 3. Use the following instructions to complete your literature review.

1.     In addition to the research articles you found earlier this week, locate and use 2-5 additional sources related to your research question or thesis statement.

2.     Analyze the literature and write a scholarly review of the 5-8 sources as they pertain to your question/statement.

3.     Use the Sample Literature Review and the APA Checklist as guidelines for your writing. The Sample Literature Review is a full review from a thesis paper. For this assignment, your literature review needs to be only 5-8 pages (double-spaced, 12 point, APA format). You will expand on this review in your M.Ed. capstone research course.

4.     Use the Literature Review Template to write your literature review.

5.     Include a reference page with proper APA style and formatting.  Please refer the Sample Paper with APA Formatting (Purdue University, Online Writing Lab, 2014) if you need additional help in ensuring that your paper follows APA formatting and style.

6.     Submit the paper to Turnitin and make any corrections that are required before uploading your paper to Blackboard.

This discussion addresses module outcome 2. In this module, you learned about the different types of family. You learned about the changing of family to include many types of family structures beyond the traditional nuclear family. You learned theories that explain the major role that family plays in the structure of society. You also learned about the troubles that families face today. These include domestic violence, high divorce and remarriage rates, custody battles and inadequate child support. In this discussion, you will apply a theoretical explanation of family in order to determine if these changes mean that the family structure has broken down.

Before beginning this activity, be sure to read the Module Notes and the assigned readings and viewings. Use as much detail from the readings and other learning materials in the module as possible to answer the following questions.

  1. Pick one of the theories that you learned in this module and summarize the arguments that it makes about the function of the family.
  2. Apply this theory’s arguments to the modern American family. Use specific examples of how the modern family meets or does not meet the theory’s definition of family function.
  3. Based on this theoretical analysis, discuss whether the modern family is in a state of breakdown. Tie this discussion back to your specific examples.

Your initial post should be at least 250 words and must substantively integrate the assigned readings with proper APA style formatting.

For assistance with APA style formatting, visit the Library or the Excelsior OWL.

week 9 diss 2

  • Recommend one or two effective methods you or other teachers use for communicating with and getting parents/guardians involved in classroom management. Discuss how to communicate effectively with parents/guardians of culturally diverse students, especially those for whom English is a second language.
  • Describe one best practice you or other teachers use during parent-teacher conferences when communicating with a parent/guardian who blames the teacher and the school for his/her student’s poor behavior and/or academic performance.

Guided Response: one paragraph each if can

Guided response: Before you respond to your peers, please watch and interact with this learning module (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. The module introduces the Paul and Elder model of critical thinking and will guide you through a scenario in which an Ashford student utilizes the elements of thought to construct a discussion post response to a student who challenged her thinking. Please notice that the discussion forum exchange between Christina and Kurt is in to the top right hand corner of the module titled “R”. Reading the forum will assist you in understanding the module. Respond to at least two of your classmates and use the elements of thought discussed in this module to extend your thinking and create a higher level of academic discourse in this class.

What does it mean to think critically and how will you model it in this course and foster it with your future students?

To think critically is to apply reasoning and objectivity to issues or situations before reaching a determination.  Being objective requires one to look at things with an absence of emotion, bias, or partiality.  Modeling the concept in this course should be nothing more than challenging opinions to try and get a more in-depth understanding of concepts, thoughts, or ideas.  Fostering critical thinking in students would vary depending on subject, grade level and maturity.  The earlier in life that students are taught to think critically, the better.   Having an understanding of argumentation and discourse and presenting material in a particular fashion encourages critical thinking.  From the article, “Academically Adrift”, the quote “In an era when the world has become unforgiving to those who don’t work hard or know how to think, this may be a time to consider real change”, will soon come home to roost with many graduating college students.  There are a tremendous number of people that are obtaining degrees in various disciplines that have very little awareness of issues pertaining to life in the real world other than what they have been told to believe.  The second article reports that many problems facing college graduates “could have been avoided by pursuing a different type of degree or a credential”.  Living outside of a college town, I am thrilled nowadays when I meet a student that is pursuing a degree in a technical skill.

To think critically means to explore beyond the surface, to take a decision, topic, or idea one step further. When one takes the time to critically think of something, they take the time to raise valid questions to research and collect information that will lead to an answer of that question. Once data is collected, a critical thinker needs to be able to see each and every point, ask credible sources their thoughts and determine what the best solution is. For instance, a teacher who wants their students to critically think needs to teach by example. They need to research and come up with questions to ask and solve. Then they need to find credible sources to listen to. This can be done as a class so that the students can see how to critically think.

In my classroom I tend to model critical thinking in a way that will have the students excited to learn and make sense of their subject before them. My goal is to become a middle school history teacher and this is a subject that involves deep critical thinking. I want my students to learn from how I teach and not completely what I teach. Meaning that I want to be their example of how to learn, not them just reading out of a book. Students need to be able to think more about the whys and what if’s of history and then apply it to why an event happened. Children are sponges and with that their critical thinking skills are able to expand with the proper modeling and practice.

Curriculum Guides for Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Mathematics

 Details:

A curriculum guide is a packet of practical ideas for teaching that is written in a convenient format as practical teaching notes for use by either you or your colleagues. It is a how-to guide that covers steps for achieving specific objectives, principles governing behavior, or descriptions of effective teaching strategies, interventions, and accommodations that a special educator can use in the classroom. Curriculum guides might include the title of the strategy or principle, explanation of its educational purpose (goal or objective), task analysis of teacher and student activities, and student assessment procedures.

Create curriculum guides for teaching reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics as a reference, in a format that will provide you and your professional colleagues with practical information necessary for effective teaching of students with ID. Ensure the curriculum guide is sufficiently accurate, thorough, and clear so the reader can implement the strategies. The guide should be usable by any of the teachers in the student’s school.

Each strategy should be referenced. There should be a minimum of three references for each subject.

Assignment 2: The Structure of Statements: Translating If and And Statements

This exercise will help you become more proficient at recognizing, translating, and evaluating if and and statements. In this assignment, find two examples for the exercise; translate the claims of the example into symbolic form; identify an if or an and statement; then assess it.

Note: Translation and assessment are tools we use to categorize statements. Therefore, you will not be penalized if, through translation and assessment, you learn a statement that appeared to be an if or an and statement is a statement of another type.

The completed assignment must contain the original claims, your translation of the claims into logical form, and your assessment of the statement in logical form. The original examples should be three to five sentences in length.

Your assessment should include answers to the following questions:

  • Is the set of claims an argument?
  • Is the original claim (when translated) an if . . . then or and statement?
  • Did the translation of the original claims reveal the statement was a different kind of statement than you originally believed?

Remember, you will also need to provide a translation key to explain the symbols you use.

Present the summary, translation, and evaluation in Microsoft Word document format. Name the file M4_A2_LastName_FirstInitial.doc and submit it to the M4: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

You must cite the source of information you use in your argument appropriately. Apply current APA standards for editorial style, expression of ideas, and format of text, citations, and references.

Some of the ways that a teacher can create a literacy-rich environment in the classroom is having a classroom library, reading games, and label words with a picture. First, the classroom library will be a good idea for the students. The library can consist of books with different genres for the students to pick  to read. Second, The teacher can have a game table. The gane table is for the students to use  for different vocabulary words. The game of charades is  a good activity for the students to remember vocabulary words. The students can act out the words to help the students remember the vocabulary words. Thirdly, the teacher can label things in the room witha picture associated with the words. The labeling associated woth the words will help the students spell, remember, and know the meaning of the vocabulary words.
