Differentiation in The Classroom (paper attached)

Differentiation in The Classroom (paper attached) Parent Meeting You have been asked to address a diverse group of parents on the topic of differentiation in the classroom. The parents pose the following questions:What is the history/theory behind differentiation? Is it based on research or is it just another “educational fad”? How does differentiated instruction look different from other instruction? My child is just a “regular” student- why do you say he/she is diverse? What are the characteristics of a diverse student? How will my child benefit from differentiation in the classroom? Will my special education student benefit from differentiation? How? Are there negative outcomes for differentiation? It seems like so much work for the teacher to differentiate- can you comment on this idea? In the spirit of differentiation, you may choose one of the following options to address the parents’ questions: Write a two to three page paper (excluding title and reference pages) to respond to parents’ questions about the pros and cons of differentiation in their child(ren)’s classroom. Design a PowerPoint presentation to address parents’ questions. The presentation must include a minimum of ten slides and appropriate graphics. You must include title and reference pages regardless of which option you choose. Reference the course text and at least one additional, scholarly source.
