Discuss how Julie’s past employment experiences, interests, and personality results from the assessments administered support or align with the short-term plan you have developed

Case Study – Career Intervention Plan: Part II

Note that this section of the written assignment pertains to the Week 6 Written Assignment Case Study. The feedback you receive will assist you in completing your final Case Study.

Your client, Julie Brown, is seeking career counseling to help her decide what direction to take in her career. She was recently laid off from a full-time position as a counseling assistant at a local community college. As part of her responsibilities in that job, Julie worked at the front desk of the counseling center. She was the first contact to students, answering basic questions and signing students in to see counselors. She conveyed to you that she absolutely loved her job. Prior to working as a counseling assistant, she worked part time as a test proctor, while earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Fresno State University. Julie visited the career center while in college. Her Keirsey temperament type is Idealist. Her Holland code is Social. Her Myers-Briggs Typology Indicator is Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving (ENFP). Julie has indicated that she wants to consider three career paths before making a final decision. She is open to working full time and attending school at night or working part time while attending school full time. While she prefers personal interactions to virtual communication, she has indicated that online schooling is an option.

Utilizing the Week Six Written Assignment Case Study and your Week Two Written Assignment on Julie’s Keirsey temperament sorter and Holland’s code results, discuss the short-term intervention plan (less than one year) that you will develop to meet Julie’s needs and preferences regarding career opportunities. Discuss how Julie’s past employment experiences, interests, and personality results from the assessments administered support or align with the short-term plan you have developed. What types of educational options, career trainings, and/or career preparation will be explored in the short term so that Julie can meet her long-term career goals?

Your paper should be a minimum of 700 words (2 pages), not including the title or references pages.

describe how using an ANOVA was more advantageous than using multiple t tests to compare your independent variable on the outcome

As you get closer to the final project in Week 6, you should have a better idea of the role of statistics in research. This week, you will calculate a one-way ANOVA for the independent groups. Reading and interpreting the output correctly is highly important. Most people who read research articles never see the actual output or data; they read the results statements by the researcher, which is why your summary must be accurate.

Consider your hypothesis statements you created in Part 2.

Calculate a one-way ANOVA, including a Tukey’s HSD for the data from the Happiness and Engagement Dataset.

Write a 125- to 175-word summary of your interpretation of the results of the ANOVA, and describe how using an ANOVA was more advantageous than using multiple t tests to compare your independent variable on the outcome. Copy and paste your Microsoft® Excel® output below the summary.

discuss what clinical, biological, and psychological factors are important in successful brain function recovery outcomes

After reading Chapter 13 of your course text and viewing The Road to Recovery Following Brain Injury (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and What is a Stem Cell? (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., which cover brain injury and repair, analyze the clinical, biological, and psychological factors that are important in successful brain function recovery outcomes. How can the brain repair itself or restore lost function after TBI or other brain damage (focus on the concept of neuroplasticity)? Wilson (2012) lists ways that the brain can repair itself, but reminds us later in the chapter that, in most areas of the brain, replication of neurons by mitosis to replace lost/dead neurons only occurs in immature brains (i.e., essentially those younger than age two). There are some areas (e.g., the hippocampus, which is responsible for memory) that have neurogenesis, but other areas of the brain must utilize neuroplasticity to restore lost function.

In addition, discuss what clinical, biological, and psychological factors are important in successful brain function recovery outcomes. What are some clinical interventions (e.g., medication, surgery, stem cell therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation techniques, and psychotherapy) that help facilitate the restoration of lost brain function? Include information on brain structures, pathways, neurotransmitters/receptors, and psychological factors when discussing the topic areas above. Additional emphasis should be placed on relating the underlying pathology of brain trauma and damage to the actual biologic mechanism of how various treatments support repair or restoration of function.

In keeping with the focus of this class, the emphasis should be placed on the role of neurotransmitter and receptor systems, neuroanatomical structures, and neurological functional pathways. You must use a minimum of one peer-reviewed source that was published within the last five years, documented in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Your post should be a minimum of 250 words. You may cite and reference your textbook, required reading and/or multimedia, but these will not fulfill the source requirement.

synthesize an overview of the major theories relating to the pathology of a disorder as well as provide a detailed discussion of the etiology (causes) and clinical interventions, using research to support your analysis

Final Project: Biopsychological Analysis of a Neuropsychological Disorder

In your Final Project, you will synthesize an overview of the major theories relating to the pathology of a disorder as well as provide a detailed discussion of the etiology (causes) and clinical interventions, using research to support your analysis. Your topic will be the neuropsychological disorder that was selected and approved by the instructor in your Week One assignment, and for which you provided an outline in the Week Two assignment.

In keeping with the focus of this class, the emphasis of your paper will be on the neuroscience aspects of the disorder, to include:

Theories of etiology (causes)

Associated factors in development of the disorder (genetic, environmental, familial, lifestyle)

Pathology (abnormalities of physical structure and function, including genetic and biochemical aspects)

Treatment options (pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic, with rationales for use based on current understanding of the disorder)

Diagnostic and research technologies employed in clinical diagnosis, care, and basic science research

Your research will include a minimum of six to eight peer-reviewed sources, which provide evidence-based information regarding the biological and psychological features of the disorder and were published within the last five years. At least four of your references should be peer-reviewed publications of original research studies. To justify your assertions, provide in-text citations for all factual statements taken from your research, with corresponding references drawn from scholarly sources. All citations and sources are to be documented according to APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center, and should support and enhance your analysis of the selected disorder. Sources may include review articles, original research articles, information from government agencies (e.g., National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration) or professional societies (e.g., professional society position papers or clinical practice guidelines).
