Today, most agencies expect case managers to use computers to document their sessions with clients. Client electronic record systems are maintained on secure agency servers that are not connected to the Internet or accessible by anyone other than agency personnel. They also require specialized passcodes and security clearance which makes them as safe as or safer than the previous paper record systems.

This week, you will join your classmates in creating electronic client contact notes to document a case management meeting with Bo. Use the Client Contact Note Template to complete this Discussion Assignment. Using the information that you have about Bo and the ISP you completed in Unit 7, imagine you have just met with him and worked with him on one or more of his goal areas. Keep in mind that Boâs mom, Tammy will also be present. Make sure that you document that. Document this meeting by completing the Client Contact Note template. When you are finished, post a response to the following questions, and include your completed Client Contact Note as an attachment to your post:

  • Describe what you found to be the most difficult part of completing this contact note and why it was challenging for you.
  • Why is it ethically important to avoid judgments and to clearly distinguish between facts and impressions in client contact notes?
  • When classmates review your sample contact note, what would you most like them to provide feedback about? For example, is there a section of the note you would like their help on or would you like to know how the tone of your writing came across when they read it, or anything else you are interested in? The more specific your request, the more chance you will get the feedback you are looking for.

When you are responding to classmates this week, in addition to commenting on their posts, please read their completed contact note and give them specific feedback on the areas they requested in their response to question 3.

HSCO 502 week 1 discussion

Topic: Case Study

Thread: For your thread, you will develop a case study by creating a scenario involving a child between 3–12 years of age. Write as if the child is being referred to you or your agency for help with a presenting developmental or behavioral problem. Include adequate, yet concise information. You only need to include the most relevant details. This should include demographics, family dynamics, parenting styles, cultural considerations, influence of religion, behavioral history of the child, temperament, and other pertinent facts that make your case unique. Do not make your presenting problem a mental illness diagnosis like bipolar disorder or conduct disorder. Instead, the issue must be relevant to development and the challenges related to development for a child this age. You must include enough detail and clarification that your classmates can analyze your case study using the theories and developmental concepts from the readings during Modules/Weeks 1–2.

(Brief Example: John is 3 years old and has just been placed in foster care. His parents were arrested after it was discovered that they were manufacturing methamphetamines in their home. His foster parents say that he cries uncontrollably and has tremors. He does not walk well and has a limited vocabulary for his age. They wonder if he has been exposed to drugs. Apparently, John and his mother stayed in the home and rarely left. The father worked various day jobs, sold drugs, and was only home late at night. His mother was very protective and affectionate towards him but established very few rules, and he was allowed to wonder freely in the home, eat when he wanted to, and sleep wherever he wanted to.)

Guided Response In your reply posts to two classmates, ask your classmates questions about the trends or issues they chose and answer questions from classmates about your issue. Identify implications or aspects of classmates’ issues they did not consider and, in each of your reply posts, include at least one additional source you found to learn more about the issue your classmate chose.

I chose this issue, because it has a little of cultural/equity issues, legal/ethical issues, social issues, and educational issues. I feel that this is important to education, because for cultural/equity issues, I think that for special needs children can’t always access the computer, iPad, or whatever type of technology material is being used. For legal/ethical issues, I feel that for those individuals who plagiarize, safety issues, or even hack is really bad and does not make anything better, I feel that those who do these things cannot be trust and it is not safe for others, such as those who have social media, such as facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. It can be very dangerous for many individuals who use online social networking. Sometimes when people send viruses, this can be a major problem, most especially for those who are not so familiar with these issues. I also can see that sometimes funding is a problem in some schools, some schools do not have enough computers for each student in a class, so that holds back on having to complete assignments or research. Sometimes the teacher and student are not on the same page about using technology or even understanding how to browse certain pages.

I chose the “digital divide” as the issue in educational technology that I will discuss. The article If we were really serious about educational technology states that we should “find out the exact percentage of our schools’ families that don’t have broadband internet access at home rather than treating the amorphous digital divide as a reason not to assign any homework that involves use of the internet” (McLeod, 2010). The Digital Divide refers to the difference between students who have access to high-quality technology and those who do not have access. students from poorer homes are less likely to have access to technology outside school. This puts those students at a disadvantage to their more well off counterparts because they get much less practice using technology. Students who suffer in this digital divide are less prepared to enter the work force or higher levels of education. Technology plays such a huge role in our world today and all students need to be prepared to use this technology. There are many ways that schools are helping to bridge the digital divide gap. Schools can offer wi-fi hotspots on their campuses that allow students to use the internet while in that location. There are even schools who are making their buses wi-fi hotspots so that students can work on homework and projects during their ride home. Teachers should be aware of those students who may not have access to the internet at home so that they can address the problem as best as possible to prevent those students from falling behind and also to keep from having to avoid technology use in the educational experience. Resources:
