What are the challenges faced (at least three) while measuring outcomes for psychotherapy? Which among these challenges do you think is the most crucial, and why? Outcome-Based Behavioral Healthcare

What are the challenges faced (at least three) while measuring outcomes for psychotherapy? Which among these challenges do you think is the most crucial, and why?
Outcome-Based Behavioral Healthcare

Quality of care and services are hallmarks of a modern-day healthcare industry. Similar to the other healthcare facilities, behavioral healthcare services also strive for quality. One of the challenges faced in measuring quality is measuring the outcome of services.

Outcome-based service is a relatively new concept. For the most part, therapists, for instance, would judge the success of treatment based on individualized, and subjective clinical notes. Although this might be good for individuals receiving therapy, it does not really help the therapist understand the most efficient form of therapy with the best outcome. However, this understanding is essential when trying to manage the cost, quality, and access of the behavioral services (the hallmarks of managed care).

What are the challenges faced (at least three) while measuring outcomes for psychotherapy? Which among these challenges do you think is the most crucial, and why?

Research any two models of psychotherapy and examine the procedures, especially the time frames and expected outcomes from that therapy. Which, in your opinion, would be a better choice as an outcome-based therapy? Why? Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.

Code of Ethics

Many healthcare professions have codes of ethics describing the type of behavior and practices to adhere to when providing services to psychiatric patients. The American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association are two professional organizations which outline specific ethical codes in their publications.

The American Psychiatric Association has published the principles of medical ethics with annotations especially applicable to psychiatry (The principles, 2001), approved, and supported by the American Medical Association. You can review the content of these publications by searching the Internet using the keywords “American Psychiatric Association: Resources/Standards.” The American Psychological Association published their code of ethics in 2003. You can review the content of this publication by searching the Internet using the keywords “APA ethics.”

Review each code of ethics to determine the major similarities and differences between the two. What is the purpose of these codes of ethics from a consumer’s point of view? Support your answer with relevant examples.

Ok this is a letter that will be sent to the nursing state board for licensure purposes (I need this letter of explanation to obtain an authorization/approval to take the state boards).

The letter should detail the circumstances surrounding the arrest the date of the incident the resultant conviction disciplinary actions and completion dates of imposed penalties. The letter should show regret and understanding of the consequences of my actions. Also this letter show that I have taken responsibility for my actions since the arrests happened in 2004. Some history of myself after I was arrested is as follows: after successful completion of probation and all disciplinary actions I enlisted active duty ARMY in 2007. I served in the army for 5 years and deployed to Iraq for 15 months. During my time in the Army I continued my military education. I also got married in 2007 and have been married for 9 years now. I am the father to my step daughter and the husband to my loving wife. I found my true calling during times when I was taking care of wounded soldiers and consequently decided to terminate my military contract voluntarily and under honorable conditions. I enrolled in and was accepted into nursing school and I have just graduated nursing school and Im very excited and motivated to become a nurse and continue making a difference in peoples lives. Also I have included a typed copy of the police/arrest reports which you will find below as this information may help you in writing about the circumstances surrounding my arrests.
ARREST 1:
Circumstance surrounding the arrest: I was arrested in the area of a vehicle that was stolen. What happened was that I was in my front yard early in the morning getting ready to start gardening on a hot summer day. An acquaintance which I did not know well drove by and asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. He had suggested getting some breakfast at Burger King. I agreed to get into the vehicle. I did not know the vehicle was stolen at that time as their were no indications that the vehicle was stolen (i.e. the vehicle appeared in working order and the driver had the keys to the vehicle). It was at that time the driver of the vehicle suggested to obtain some marijuana. The driver then proceeded to drive erratically and eventually the front tire blew out and the vehicle stopped. Additionally the driver of the vehicle was yelling obscene things as we passed people. It was at this time that the driver informed myself that the vehicle was stolen. Also I was completely honest with the police about this incident while the other acquaintances were not. More all conviction were later expunged.
Conviction: PC 496d (California Penal Code Section 496d) Receiving Stolen Property Misdemeanor.
Disciplinary actions: 3 years of informal/conditional probation a fine of $520 and restitution in the amount of $325. Note: community service was done in lieu of the $520 fine. 45 hours of community service was completed.
Date of Incident: 06/27/2004

The effectiveness of early mobilization for the rehabilitation of patients who with burr holes for drainage done for chronic subdural haematoma.: a critical literature review.

It is a dissertation for a bachelor level in nursing and it is a systemic review of different articles and journals. From the requirement of the university, it is needed to identified 6-8 articles in the dissertation as a critical literature review. The structure of the dissertation is divided into different parts. It is started with introduction and backgrounds, which accounts for around 2300 words. In this section, it is to address why I am interested in the selected area and topic. Firstly it’s a general area of interest, like the clinical area which I am working in, i.e in the neurosurgical unit, It’s encourage to link to the relevant Hospital Authority’ Annual plans (Hong Kong). Then describe how the topic was established and form, like how’s the significance or why it is important to concern about it with some statistic or article to support. And the last part in the introduction part is to clearly state the selected topic and explain the flow and structure of the paper. Besides, the research question, aim and objective should be stated. The second part is methodology and methods, which accounts for 2000 words. In the part, a short section is needed to be included to discuss what literature says about literature reviews as a research methodology and writer’s thought in literature review, whether is an appropriated methodology fir the study. It is recommended to included other research methodology as comparison. After that, it is needed to describe how to search and what database was used in searching the articles with reasons. The terms used in the searching of articles are needed to be listed out in a form of Boolean search table(s). The inclusion and exclusion criteria should be explained. The critiquing framework (like CASP-UK, 2014) used should also be stated with reasons. Besides, it is needed to discuss various ways of analyzing other people’s research finding with reference and the ethical implication of literature review as a research methodology. To sum up, it is a section which concerning ”How” and Why” literature review. The third part is results which accounts for 1600 words. In this part, the selected (6-8) article should be stated. The reason of selecting and the type of articles should be discussed in some details. It is need to show the critiques of all the articles in a table format and placed in the Appendix with the original articles. In the section of result, it is included 6-8 summary critique grid for the respective 6-8 articles. A summary is needed in essay format in summarizing the findings of the critiques supporting what you write with reference to the research literature. The next part is analysis, which accounts for 1600 words. It is important to clearly list and explain how the theme are merge from those articles. It is a section which explained how to use the selected articles to answer the selected question in the topic. It is recommended to use a table to compare the result of different articles and then to merge them to identify the theme and how can it ans the topic questions. The following is discussion which is around 1500 words. There are several questions to be answered in the section.-What do the themes identified really mean and what implication are there for your practice. What are the benefit will the finding deliver to the patients, their families, professionals and the organization. How do the theme related to the ideas that emerged during the background and whether further research is needed in this aspect. What are the ethical implication of the study and what are the limitations. Finally is the things learned as a researcher. The last part is conclusion and recommendation, which is around 1000.

Post a summary of an incident involving ineffective communication. Describe communication barriers and other challenges that contributed to the incident.

Post a summary of an incident involving ineffective communication. Describe communication barriers and other challenges that contributed to the incident.

Effective Communication
From moment to moment, a nurse leader’s day involves communication—with patients, families, colleagues, supervisors, and so on.

Think of a particular day you spent working in a health care environment, and consider three or four distinct points in time. For each point of time, consider the following: With whom did you interact? Which forms of communication did you use? What issues were communicated about—did they seem to be light-hearted or sensitive? Straightforward or complicated? How would you describe the pace of the interactions and your work?

As you consider these questions, it becomes clear that communication can be quite complex, with many layers of meaning that shape the experience for everyone involved. How could this awareness help you to understand instances of ineffective communication when they arise?

To prepare:

Review the information in Chapter 19 of the course text, as well as the assigned articles.
Reflect on an incident involving ineffective communication within your organization or another health care setting. Consider this incident through the lens of the communication process outlined in Figure 19.1 of the course text (p. 439).
What barriers contributed to this incident? What other challenges may have influenced this situation?
Using the information presented in the other Learning Resources, consider what could have been done to prevent or address the ineffective communication. Why do you think the use of these strategies would have resulted in better outcome(s)?
Post a summary of an incident involving ineffective communication. Describe communication barriers and other challenges that contributed to the incident. Propose one or more strategies that could have been employed to promote a better outcome. Be sure to refer to elements of the communication process.

One of the major drivers in recent health care reform legislation is the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act’s (ARRA) HiTech Incentive.

This act, passed in 2009, earmarked $22 billion for the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs), with a goal of 100% adoption in all practice settings by the year 2014. The HiTech Act provides an example of the pivotal role that health information technology plays in the delivery of quality health care services. Yet, health information technology is a relatively new field. This Application Assignment provides an opportunity for you to examine the contributions of pioneers in this arena and consider how their contributions have influenced health informatics and nursing practice today.

To prepare:

Visit the AMIA Video Library 1: Nursing Informatics Pioneers webpage listed in the Learning Resources.
Review the biographies and video presentations of pioneers who are of interest to you, or may hold a position that you aspire to achieve.
Select two nursing informatics pioneers and conduct further research on their contributions.
Consider how their contributions have influenced health information technology and nursing practice today.
By Thursday 09/07/17, Write a scholarly 3- to 4-page paper comparing two nursing informatics pioneers in APA format with a minimum of 4 references from the list below which include the level one headings as numbered below:

1) What are the professional accomplishments of each individual?

2) How have their contributions influenced nursing practice?

3) How have their contributions shaped the field of nursing informatics?

4) What lessons can you take away from their experiences?

5) What skills or ideas demonstrated by these leaders might you apply to your professional practice?

Case Study 14–7 Conflict-Handling Styles

For each of the five scenarios described below, determine what is the most appropriate conflict-handling style(s).
Scenario One
A radiologist on the staff of a large community hospital was stopped after a staff meeting by a colleague in internal medicine. On Monday of the previous week, the internist referred an elderly man with chronic, productive cough for chest X-ray, with a clinical diagnosis of bronchitis. Thurs-day morning the internist received the radiologist’s written X-ray report with a diagnosis of “probable bronchogenic carcinoma.” The internist expressed his dismay that the radiologist had not called him much earlier with a verbal report. Visibly upset, the internist raised his voice, but did not use abusive language.
How should the radiologist handle this conflict with the internist?
Scenario Two
The Family and Community Medicine Division of a large-staff model HMO serves a population that is ethnically diverse. The senior management team of the HMO, spurred by repeated com-plaints from representatives of one racial group, has encouraged the division, all of whose physicians are white, to diversify. Several black and Hispanic physicians with strong credentials apply for the open positions, but none is hired. Weeks later, a young female family physician learns from several colleagues that the division director has identified her as racist and the obstructionist to recruiting. The comments attributed to her are not only false but are also typical of discriminatory statements that she has heard the division chief utter. The rumors about her “behavior” have circulated widely in the division.
How should the young female family physician handle this conflict with the division chief?
Scenario Three
A manager who reports to the Vice President for Clinical Affairs (VPCA) of a tertiary-care hospital hired a young woman to supervise development of a large community outreach program. During the first four months of her employment, several behavioral problems came to the VPCA’s attention: (1) complaints from community physicians that the coordinator criticizes other physicians in public; (2) concerns from two community leaders that the coordinator is not truthful; and (3) written reports about the project that label and blame others, sometimes in language that is disrespectful. The VPCA spoke several times to the manager about these problems. The manager reported other dissatisfactions with the coordinator’s performance, but he showed no sign of dealing with the behavior. Two more complaints come in, one from an influential community leader.
How should the VPCA handle this conflict with the manager?
Scenario Four
The medical school in an academic health center recently implemented a problem-based curriculum, dramatically reducing the number of lectures given and substituting small-group learning that focuses on actual patient cases. Both clinical and basic science faculty are feeling stretched in their new roles. In the past, dental students took the basic course in microanatomy with medical students. The core lectures are still given but at different times that do not match with the dental-curriculum schedule. The anatomists insist that they don’t have time to teach another course specifically for dental students. The dean has informed the chair of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology that some educational revenues will be redirected to the dental school if the faculty do not meet this need.
How should the dean handle this conflict with the chair of the Department of Anatomy and CellBiology?

Discuss the mission of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).

Review the attached PowerPoints presentations. Once done answer the following questions:
1. Do you feel it is better to allow individuals the freedom to choose any type of (or no) health insurance coverage available to them or to increase government involvement in a person’s/family’s healthcare via mandates, such as the ACA and/or the government as a single insurer for all residents. Why?
2. Discuss the mission of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).
3.If you could reform the malpractice or tort laws, what types of changes would you make? When do you feel it is appropriate for someone to claim damages from medical procedures or treatment? Do you feel there should be a cap on the payments, and if so, how would you decide what that cap would be? What are all the different costs involved in medical malpractice suites? Is it easier to talk about tort reform than to actually try to define it?
4. The rights of people once they have been incarcerated can be a controversial topic of discussion. Discuss the healthcare rights of the incarcerated population. What do you feel should or should not be provided to those who are imprisoned? Are there certain tests or procedures that they feel should be performed routinely? Why or why not? What is the nurse’s role, based on the section on page 248?

Healthcare Statistics
The managed care organization has asked you to put together a spreadsheet that shows a comparison between 3 diseases that are impacting 3 different countries. Because your department will be coming up for an accreditation performance review, this is a good time to start to evaluate data. In recent years, studies have indicated an increase in overall rates for cancer, HIV/AIDS, and obesity.

Use the library, textbook, and the Web site for the World Health Organization (WHO) to research and explain why there is such a profound change in these countries during the time span. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of 8–10 slides as well as an Excel spreadsheet that does the following:

Compare data from the United States, Canada, and Cuba.
Analyze obesity, cancer, and HIV/AIDS in these countries.
Data should be viewed from 2008 to 2010.
Calculate the percentage of change from one year to the next.
