Case Study:Gary, a 4-month-old boy, presents to the pediatric office with a 3-day history of worsening cough, fever 101, tachypnea and retractions. Gary’s 3-year-old sibling attends preschool and had upper respiratory symptoms one week ago. Why?2.What questions do you need to ask to gain more information? List the first three questions you would ask this mother, with rationale.3.List the two priority nursing assessments/interventions you will perform, with rationale.4.List the diagnoses you feel are most likely based on the provided information. If more than one, explain the relationship between them.5.Discuss the teaching needs you identify for this mother.6.Describe the diagnostic tests you anticipate being ordered and the associated nursing implications.

Case Study:K.G. is a 5 year old kindergarten student that is brought to the ER by his mother after she witnessed apparent seizure activity. His mother describes it as jerking of both arms and legs, and that he wouldn’t answer when she called his name. She doesn’t remember much else, thinks it might have lasted a few minutes, but she is not sure “it seemed like forever”. She doesn’t know any family history, K.G. is adopted and health records were not provided. He has never had an episode like this
before. Upon examination K.G. appears lethargic, makes eye contact when his name is called, but quickly drifts back to sleep. Vital Signs are unremarkable, shorts are damp and there is a urine smell. K.G.’s right arm is in a cast and there is ecchymosis on his right chest and abdomen. Upon questioning his mother reports he fell off the jungle gym at school last week.1.What is the most likely diagnosis for this patient? Why?2.What is the first assessment the nurse should perform? Provide rationale.3.Discuss the key points the nurse will use in clinical decision making for each of these areas:Types of Seizures and Impact on Nursing InterventionsPatient Safety and SeizuresPatient Age and Seizures4.Describe the diagnostic tests the nurse anticipates and the associated nursing implications. Include the impact of the patient’s age and nursing strategies to address this.5.How should the nurse explain what a seizure is to K.G.?

Assignment 2: Dropbox Assignment

Data Interpretation: United States and Nigeria

For your dropbox assignment, using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research and compare the demography and health indicators for Nigeria and the United States.

Note: Click here (http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.DPND) to view the links that you can refer to for research about the demography and health indicators for the United States and Nigeria.

Based on your research, create a 3- to 4-page report in a Microsoft Word document, answering the following questions:

Compare the annual population growth rate of both countries. What factors do you think are contributing to the differences observed between the two countries?
Compare the composition of the population of both countries. What does it suggest about each country?
Compare the dependency ratio of both countries. What does it suggest about each country?
Compare the mortality rates of both countries. Which age groups do you think are the most affected in each country? Is there a gender difference in mortality rates? Why or why not? In your opinion, what are the factors that might contribute to the differences in mortality rates of both countries?
Which age group is benefiting the most from healthcare interventions in each country?
What does the life expectancy at birth and at sixty years tell you about each country?
If you were a public health official looking at these data for the first time, what questions and assumptions might come up that you would want to further investigate?

Support your responses with examples.

Cite any sources in APA format.

Inferential statistics enable researchers to apply the data they gather and the conclusions they draw from a particular sample to a larger population.

Inferential statistics enable researchers to apply the data they gather and the conclusions they draw from a particular sample to a larger population.

As the name implies, inferential statistics focus on inferring whether there is a relationship between two or more variables. These statistical analyses include t tests and analysis of variance (ANOVA). t Tests are part of a group of statistical tests that test hypotheses; in fact, it is necessary to formulate a hypothesis in order to use a t test, because the results of the test can only be interpreted in the context of a scientific hypothesis.

Inferential statistics such as t tests work well for comparing two groups. Although mathematically equivalent to the t test, ANOVA allows for the comparison of more than two groups. Therefore, when three or more groups are involved, the ANOVA should be used.

In this week’s Discussion, you are asked to locate a current research article that utilizes either a t test or ANOVA analysis. You provide a summary of the research study and of the study’s application to evidence-based practice. You also examine the article’s use of a t test or ANOVA and how either of those statistical analysis tools helped to inform the article’s conclusions and recommendations.

To prepare:

Consider some of the important issues in health care delivery or nursing practice today. Bring to mind the topics to which you have been exposed through previous courses in your program of study, as well as any news items that have caught your attention recently. Select one topic to consider for this Discussion.

Next, review journal, newspaper, and Internet articles that provide credible information on your topic. Then, select one research article on which to focus that used inferential statistical analysis (either a t test or ANOVA) to study the topic.

With information from the Learning Resources in mind, evaluate the purpose and value of the research study discussed in your selected article and consider the following questions:

Who comprised the sample in this study?

What were the sources of data?

What inferential statistic was used to analyze the data collected (t test or ANOVA)?

What were the findings?

Ask yourself: How did using an inferential statistic bring value to the research study? Did it increase the study’s application to evidence-based practice?
By Day 4 post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

Identify the topic you selected in the first line of your posting.

Summarize the study discussed in your selected research article and provide a complete APA citation. Include in your summary the sample, data sources, inferential statistic utilized, and findings.

Evaluate the purpose and value of this particular research study to the topic.

Did using inferential statistics strengthen or weaken the study’s application to evidence-based practice?

Capital Assets—Lease versus Purchase Analysis

Review the following scenario:

Healthcare organizations face the challenge of acquiring capital to finance equipment purchases. As the Director of Rehabilitation Services in a hospital outpatient clinic, you have identified the need to acquire new isokinetic exercise equipment. You are preparing a briefing for the Assistant Administrator to discuss lease options versus purchase options for an exercise equipment system that would cost $25,000 to purchase. The useful life of the equipment is 5 years.

Based on your analysis of the scenario, the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, address the following:

Describe different leasing options.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of lease versus purchase.
Make a decision about lease or purchase and present that option to the Assistant Administrator.
Summarize the central factors that shaped your decision to recommend lease or purchase.
Write a 3–5-page report in Word format. Utilize a minimum of 2–3 scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be clear, concise, and organized; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Evidence-based practice utilizes a variety of research methods to gather evidence as to the efficacy of a program’s effectiveness, or cost effectiveness.

Evidence-based practice utilizes a variety of research methods to gather evidence as to the efficacy of a program’s effectiveness, or cost effectiveness.

According to your text, “Sound research and its applications, although not guarantees of perfect policies and programs, are extremely useful tools in developing sound social policies and programs” (p. 281). Additionally, we read that evaluation research is different from “basic” research in that evaluation research is based on reality factors in the field and can answer the question: Is this program achieving its goals within the cost estimates?

In this assignment, you will create a fictional “how to” guide in which you will analyze the steps pertinent to effective program assessment. Specifically, you will:

Explain the parts of the program evaluation, and how one would carry out a program evaluation.
Explain the steps of the program evaluation and what the program evaluator would want to measure / evaluate.
