Describe which theory best explains the influence of culture on human development and why.
Theories of Human Development

Various theories of human development exist within the field of psychology, although the role of culture differs among them. Some theories are considered universal and, thus, assume that an individual will develop similarly regardless of the culture in which he or she is raised. Yet, other theories assume that the developmental niche or ecological context of the individual has more of an influence on the individual. For example, Piaget’s theory of cognitive development assumes that everyone reaches the final stage of cognition regardless of his or her culture. In contrast, Brofenbrenner’s ecological systems theory suggests that culture is influential in human development.
For this Discussion, select two major theories of human development that interest you. Consider the similarities and differences in how these theories explain cultural influences on human development.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 4 a brief description of the two theories of human development that you selected. Then, compare the major components of the two theories. Finally, describe which theory best explains the influence of culture on human development and why. Support your responses using the Learning Resources and the current literature

Using Evidence and Data to Shape Health Policy Assignment.(Hint: Reviewing the US Preventive Services Task Force Guidelines can be helpful in terms of generating ideas).

Doctoral students are expected to be able to lead and/or work effectively in teams. For this assignment, students may work in self-selected groups of 2 to 5 students. The names of all students in the group should be identified on the title page of the assignment. Each group member should submit a copy of the final paper in Canvas and the submissions for all members must be identical.

Purpose and Goals: The objectives and student learning outcomes for this course include applying quantitative and/or qualitative analyses to databases for the formulation and evaluation of health policy alternatives for improving prevention and population health efforts.

This exercise will provide students with the opportunity to examine and describe current data and evidence relative to a selected clinical preventive service/intervention and the implications for policy formation and/or funding—keeping “opportunity cost” in mind. Review the content of Chapter 86 (Family and Sexual Violence: Nursing and US Policy) in the Mason text; this piece illustrates how data and evidence can be used to inform or shape health policy recommendations.

Guidelines: •Select a clinical prevention/population health intervention or issue of interest. (Hint: Reviewing the US Preventive Services Task Force Guidelines can be helpful in terms of generating ideas). •Using course references and other resources as necessary for successful completion of this assignment, retrieve, examine, and appraise current literature (evidence) and data relative to the selected preventive intervention or issue of interest. Apply an established level of evidence hierarchy when appraising and describing current evidence/literature. Example tools from the Johns Hopkins EBP Model are accessible via the links at the bottom of the page—though other frameworks are also acceptable. •In a 3 to 5 page APA formatted paper (excluding the title page and references), summarize the current state of knowledge/evidence on the intervention or topic and the implications of this evidence for health policy. •Data and references should be current (typically not more than 5 years old); seminal and/or classic works are an exception.

As a public health nurse at a free clinic, you are assessing and interviewing a 21-year-old woman who has come to the clinic because

shedoesn’t have any energy and hasn’t felt good in weeks. During the interview, you learn that she averages one meal per day, smokes up to

two packs of cigarettes per day, and rummages through trash to find items she can sell to purchase food, snacks, and cigarettes. She

admits to using street drugs every once in a while when she can find someone who will share with her. She admits her life is a mess and

she doesn’tknow how to make it better.
• What data can you gather based on available client information?
• What questions should you ask yourself while interviewing this client?
• During planning, how can you, as the nurse, best assist this client?
• What are the potential strategies that would assist the client to a “better” life?
Your paper should be 2 pages in length, in APA format, typed in Times New Roman with 12-point font, and double-spaced with 1” margins. If

outside sources are used, they must be cited appropriately.

In this reflective writing exercise you will analyze yourself with regard to the stage of development at which you are today as a critical thinker, and critique your strengths and challenges in the matter of becoming an advanced critical thinker with advanced reasoning skills.

As you internalize critical thinking concepts, models, and theories, what questions do you have about being a fair-minded critical thinker? After the course ends, what is your strategy about becoming a fair-minded thinker that you may use in your career and the rest of your academic program?

Directions

Using the concepts learned through the readings and lecture pages, write a critical analysis essay that answers at least three of the following:

How will you employ critical thinking as a tool for your career aspirations?
Describe the role that critical thinking plays in your life today.
Explain and offer examples of how you might further apply critical thinking in your life.
What does this course have to do with good analytical thinking in general or with your particular beliefs and mindset?
Explain a point of view or primary value you sometimes rely on to guide your thinking.
Briefly describe how you personally analyze and assess thinking.
List three inferences you have made in the past. Is it possible to separate emotions from issues that are heavily based on belief systems such as religious beliefs?
Requirements

In this Critical Thinking assignment, you need to back up your ideas and claims with scholarly sources. Keep in mind that critical reasoning and thinking skills are not the same as opinions. While it is acceptable to write in the first person, as needed for this assignment, be sure to support your ideas with valid, reputable, and scholarly articles.
Include at least 1-2 scholarly sources that are not required or recommended readings for this course.
Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length, well written, and formatted according to APA standards.
