The Affordable Care Act was signed into law in the spring of 2010 and was followed later in the year by the launch of a 10-year agenda for improving the Nation’s health: Healthy People 2020. According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, a department of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the initiative is intended, in part, to help identify national health improvement priorities, strengthen policies and improve practices, achieve health equity and improve the health of all groups (https://www.healthypeople.gov/2020/About-Healthy-People).

Review the Health Gaps Report for your state, paying close attention to the Highlighted Health Gapssection that are considered to be meaningful gaps that policymakers and leaders may want to examine more closely.
Prepare a report discussing the meaningful health gaps in your state and how health policies supporting community and national health can help close those gaps. Your report should also include a discussion of differences in health outcomes and health factors between the county ranked #1 in your state and the one ranked the lowest, suggesting county health policies that could help improve the ranking of the latter. Finally, your report should conclude with a summary of how public policies support community and national health.

The body of the report should be 3-4 pages, excluding the title page and references page. The County Health Rankings and the Health Gaps Report must be listed on the references page along with any other references you use in preparing the report. Use the following format for these required references:

JCAHO) accredited hospital in your area and
speak to the director of facility maintenance (or any middle or upper level manager who is qualified to talk about OSHA compliance). Ask this person what activities he or she undertakes on a regular basis to remain OSHA compliant.
Based on your findings, write an essay synthesizing and analyzing the OSHA issues faced by the facilities manager. This essay should provide a list of the OSHA standards that apply to the organization, describe the ways the organization becomes compliant with OSHA regulation, provide examples of the common violations of these regulations found in the facility, and explain how the facility stays abreast of the changes in the standards.
Be sure your essay summarizes the following information:
Identify any OSHA fines incurred by the organization and provide the amounts of such fines.
List the activities undertaken by your interviewee to remain OSHA compliant and describe the frequency of each.
Describe any training that is conducted within the hospital staff to help ensure that standards are maintained.
Provide a list of the OSHA standards that apply to the organization.
Finally, provide your thoughts on the specific practices and broad principles that should be invoked to ensure OSHA compliance. If you were the facilities manager of the organization you interviewed, what would you do differently and why?
Your paper should be 23 pages in length and discuss and cite at least two credible sources other than the course textbook.

Review Chapter 7 of the Sadeghi, Barzi, Mikhail, and Shabot course text. Consider how addressing this quality improvement issue would align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals and objectives. How does it relate to regulatory issues, and other matters that are significant for the organization? If you notice a misalignment, use this as an opportunity to refine your focus.
With this in mind, continue to hone your development of this Assignment, integrating the concepts addressed here into Section 3.

What are the difficulties the family of the addicted person is experiencing as a result of the addicted person’s behavior and symptoms?

According to the 2009 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 22 million Americans over age 12 reportedly use illicit drugs. This figure accounts for almost 10 percent of the population in that age group (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA], 2010).

As a result, human service providers commonly work with clients who are affected by drug and alcohol abuse. Some providers choose to specialize in addiction prevention or treatment. In either case, human service providers need to have at least a basic understanding of addiction so they can effectively work with addicted clients or affected family members of addicted persons.

Denial is a strong feature in addiction. Typically, clients are in denial regarding the severity of their use, their level of addiction, and consequent effects on themselves and their families. As a result, interventions have become a popular method of beginning treatment for addiction. Interventions involve a large group of people close to the client, such as family and friends, to meet with the client and a substance abuse treatment provider to help the client realize the severity of his or her situation and condition and to convince the client to seek treatment (SAMHSA, 2010).

Search the Internet for a video clip designed to educate viewers on substance abuse interventions. For instance, you could look at a television series titledIntervention, which follows individuals going through this process. The series has increased public understanding of addiction and intervention.

You can also view the following webcast from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration of the U.S. Government on “Prevention/Early Intervention for SA/MH Problems: What’s Working, What’s Needed?” The webcast discusses the importance of prevention and early intervention in substance abuse and mental health and the impact these programs can have on society. The webcast also discusses successful programs and proposes recommendations for the future.

1) A 66-year-old man had suffered bilateral cerebral
haemorrhages over the course of three months. After
the first stroke he was hospitalised and became very
depressed and expressed suicidal wishes. He was not
therefore motivated to recover and regained little
movement or power of speech. As he had no relatives
and ‘nothing to live for’, staff felt troubled and
powerless to help. His second haemorrhage left him
totally paralysed, and semi-conscious, all basic care
being required. This continued for two months, no
positive signs of recovery being manifest. Medical staff
therefore agreed with senior nurses on the ward to
discontinue nourishing tube feeds and commence a
three-hourly regime of restricted water. Two weeks
later the patient contracted a chest infection and was
only producing extremely small quantities of offensive
urine. In this gravely dehydrated state despite all care
he became generally malodorous and halitotic and few
people entered his room.
One senior student had been assigned to the care of
this patient in the day-time and was given the
responsibility of planning nursing care and ensuring
this was continued when she was not on duty. Her
mounting distress that the patient was not being made
comfortable in his last few days was only
communicated to other nurses. Unfortunately she felt
unable to talk to the physicians as the ward was
extremely busy and they did not include visits to the
patient during their rounds. After ten days the patient
died and the nurse felt she had failed to maintain his
dignity or speak up on his behalf.
This situation is not atypical. Nurses are all too
reluctant to assert their concern or beliefs and medical
priorities must primarily reflect active, curative
treatment. The simple remedy of giving more fluids
and of discussing this with the ward staff may have
helped the patient and the nurse suffer less
