Games and sports develop in us a number of virtues which guide our actions and strengthen our character. In fact, games have their own educative value. People possessing courage, strength, conviction and virtues like self-help, sacrifice, honesty and straightforwardness, are said to be men of a stronger character. These virtues are always developed by games and sports. A sound body has a sound mind is an old proverb. A healthy body being free from disease and morbidity is bound to be independent and self-reliant. Games and sports bring in our physical development and thus pave way for better thoughts and virtues like self-help, courage and honesty. Sports give rise to team spirit and competition. Sportsmen learn to work together, they are the bitter rivals but honor each other for their skills. On the field, they try to beat one another, but after the competition is over, they shake hands as if they were and they are the warmest friends. Sports thus develop a very healthy competition and inculcate in the sportsman some of the highest virtues. A sportsman is always courageous and bold. He never loses heart and fights his adversary till the last with an undaunted spirit. He always has faith in himself and his confidence. He relies upon this strength. In the way we develop the prized virtues of self-help and courage. Sports teach us the best type of discipline. We learn obedience, regularity and punctuality. A sportsman always obeys his captain. Rain or shine, whatever it may be, he reaches the field punctually and at the appointed time for practice. Janet has been working as a nurse manager for a little over six months. Since she took this position, nurses have asked her a variety of questions related to paid leave, health insurance coverage, retirement plans, and other important issues. Each new question causes Janet to wonder whether she is providing her staff with sufficient information. Janet realizes that she needs help answering these questions, and she is curious to see if she can enlist the assistance of someone in the Human Resources department. Despite her experience as a nurse and as a nurse manager, Janet is not sure what kind of support HR can provide, nor how and when she should request their help.

Nurse managers may be uncertain about the roles that HR plays in health care organizations. In addition, many managers are unclear about how HR can support them with the staff function of their managerial responsibilities. As a nurse manager, what questions might you have about HR’s role? Michael is a 56 year old male who has returned to the high dependency acute cardiac care unit following a Balloon Angioplasty and insertion of an Intracoronary Stent.

Adult following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Balloon Angioplasty and Intracoronary Stent
Michael is a 56 year old male who has returned to the high dependency acute cardiac care unit following a Balloon Angioplasty and insertion of an Intracoronary Stent. He has a history of Type 2 Non-insulin dependent diabetes and manages this with Metformin. He is on telemetry and is to lie flat for 3 hours post procedure. The femoral artery sheath was removed in theatre, the site compressed and an opsite dressing applied to the site on his left inguinal region. He is currently on half hourly circulation observations. He has an IV of 0.9% Sodium Chloride (1L) / 24 hourly infusing. His initial return to ward observations were HR 80/min, RR 18/min, BP 120/80, Temp 36.9°C. When you perform your next set of observations 30 minutes later Michael’s observations are HR 110/min, RR 20/min, BP 100/70 and Temp 37° C. He reports that he has pain in his groin and has a pain score of 4/10. He also says “I really want to pee but I can’t while I’m lying down.†His feet and hands feel pale, clammy and cool. You lift up the sheet to inspect the catheter site and there is a large pool of fresh blood all over the sheet under Michael and a visible leakage from the site.

• State an overview of the patient’s condition and identify the TWO priority nursing problems. Give a brief plan for the essay topics.
• For the first problem (850 words): Briefly explain how it relates to the patient’s assessment data. You will need to draw on your understanding of pathophysiology to explain the link between the problem and the patient’s signs and symptoms. Identify TWO priority nursing interventions to address the problem. Discuss briefly the nursing interventions you will implement (explain what is involved in implementing the intervention, why it is suitable, any relevant positive or negative aspects/considerations) and support/justify the use of these interventions with reference to current evidence-based literature. Outline the evaluation criteria/data that would indicate that each intervention is improving or resolving the identified problem.
• For the second problem (850 words): Briefly explain how it relates to the patient’s assessment data. You will need to draw on your understanding of pathophysiology to explain the link between the problem and the patient’s signs and symptoms Identify TWO priority nursing interventions to address the problem.
